  • 10 Wedding Planning Tips for a Day to Remember

Planit Event Inc. shares 10 must-know wedding planning tips to ensure your wedding is everything you dreamed of.

10 Wedding Planning Tips for a Day to Remember

Wedding planning can be both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. It’s an event that marks a milestone in your life, and you want everything to be perfect. From securing the right venue to picking a color palette, there are many decisions to make. Here are some tips to make your wedding planning process go smoothly.

Tip 1: Start planning early

I can’t stress this enough, but starting the planning process as early as possible will help immensely in the long run. Now I’m not saying as soon as your ring is on your finger it’s time to pull out the wedding planning book and get to work. Enjoy your engagement but keep in mind that if you plan to get married within the next 12 months, you should start thinking about getting to the drawing board sooner than later. Here are a few easy tips to help you get started with the planning process:

  • Create a vision board
  • Start thinking about the number of guests which will lead to which venues will be a good fit
  • Decide who will be in your wedding party

Tip 2: Secure a venue first, then plan the rest

The first step in planning your wedding is to secure a venue. It’s important to have a date in mind, but be flexible with the dates if possible. Consider the number of guests you plan to invite and make sure the venue can accommodate them comfortably. A good venue will also offer a range of services to help you plan your big day, including catering, decorations, and photography.

Tip 3: Create a budget

Weddings can be expensive, so it’s important to create a budget and stick to it. Determine how much you can realistically spend and allocate funds accordingly. Don’t forget to factor in hidden costs, such as gratuities and taxes. Prioritize the most important elements of your wedding, such as the venue and catering, and cut back on less important items if necessary.

Tip 4: Set due dates

Setting timelines can be a very helpful tactic to help keep you on track. Life can get in the way and sometimes wedding tasks get pushed off until you’re running around like a lunatic trying to get things done. Tip 5: Consider hiring a wedding planner

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just want to ensure everything goes smoothly, consider hiring a wedding planner. A professional wedding planner can help with everything from finding the perfect venue to coordinating vendors and managing the timeline on the day of the wedding. They can also help you stay within your budget and offer guidance on etiquette and traditions. For more information, send me a message and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have!

Tip 6: Book hair and makeup early

If you’re having your wedding during the “wedding season” months, this tip is especially important. Book your hair and makeup as soon as you have secured your wedding date with the venue to ensure that you get your first choice of stylist and artist.

Tip 7: Always taste test before you book

Food is an important part of any wedding, so be sure to taste test the catering. Before committing to a caterer, ask for a tasting of their food. You want to make sure that the food is delicious, and the presentation is beautiful. Consider the dietary needs of your guests, such as vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options.

Tip 8: Pick a colour palette and stick to it

Your wedding’s color palette sets the tone for the entire event. Consider the season and time of day, the location, and your personal preferences when choosing your colors. You don’t have to stick to one or two colors, but you can also incorporate different shades of the same color or add a pop of color to the mix. Use the color palette throughout your wedding, from the invitations to the flowers, to create a cohesive look.

Tip 9: Have a backup plan

Even with the best planning, unexpected things can happen on your wedding day. Have a backup plan in place in case of bad weather, vendor cancellations, or other unforeseen circumstances. Consider renting a tent in case of rain, or having an indoor ceremony option.

Tip 10: Remember the day is about you and your partner

It’s easy to get caught up in the wedding planning process and forget what the day is truly about – you and your partner. Make sure to take time throughout the planning process to reconnect with each other and remember why you’re getting married. Make decisions together and compromise when necessary. On the day of the wedding, take a moment to step back and appreciate the love that brought you together.
