Why Should Your Business Host an Event?
How Hosting an Event Can Boost Your Business
As an event planner I’m going to be a bit biased and say that the benefits of hosting an event can be tremendous for your business. But even with my event planner background aside, it’s true! It’s all about the PR baby- but all jokes aside, hosting an event has some great benefits and I’m going to share those with you today.
Event = Brand Awareness
I want you to think back to some of the best events you have attended. Although the event host doesn’t seem like the star of the show, I bet you remember who they are (hint: they are the star). So, why is that? Throughout the event, the host’s name and logo is being thrown at you in multiple ways through:
- Paper materials
- Swag
- Banners
- Sponsor mentions
- And much more…
Especially for new businesses or growing ones, hosting an event is a great way to build brand awareness. You can even focus on your target audience by hosting an event that is appealing to them!
You see it all the time, companies pay anywhere from hundreds to millions of dollars to have their logo shown to their target market. Why? Because it works. Get your brand in the spotlight.
Boost Interactions
By hosting your own event, you can boost the interactions you have with customers and expand your network! The attention that is given to an event host compared to an event attendee is quite different. Build those relationships through face-to-face interactions and create a network of the right contacts that will benefit your business in the long run.
In many cases, interactions can result in leads generated. As the face of the event you get to be the star. Showcase your product(s) and service(s), plan to have the keynote speaker be from your organization; the opportunities are endless.
Key Considerations
Now it doesn’t go without saying, but planning a large-scale event can be difficult. It takes a lot of planning and attention to detail. Throughout my experience as an event planner I have learned a thing or two that I’d like to share which can help guide you towards success:
- Plan early- planning early will ensure that you have all the required boxes checked off for a successful event. Looking for some tips on planning your event? Check out the Planit Events Inc. blog!
- Create a budget- plan and stick to a budget. This will ensure that you don’t go too overboard (trust me it’s easy for that to happen). Check out the last Planit Events Inc. blog post to learn how you can create a budget!
- Assign a dedicated team to the event- having a dedicated team will ensure that each task has been completed for the event to run smoothly. Choose team players, those who deal well with deadlines and under pressure.
- Hire help where necessary- there are plenty of professional services that can help you plan your first event to ensure that it is a success.
- Be prepared that something will go wrong- I know this isn’t the most delightful consideration to hear, but it’s always good to be prepared for something to go wrong. When event planning, your event becomes dependent on many others for success. Ensure you have contingency plans in place.
